Deschamps confirms Mbappe's appointment as captain of France.

France's head coach Didier Deschamps has confirmed the appointment of PSG forward Kylian Mbappe as captain of the national team.

'Kylian Mbappe is the new captain of the French national team. Antoine Griezmann is the vice-captain. Kylian meets all the requirements to take on this responsibility. He is a key element in the team and on the field," Deschamps said on ESPN.

The first match for Mbappe with the captain's armband will take place this Friday. He will lead the team in the 1st round of the European Championship qualifying match against the Netherlands.
