A new level of threat for De Jong. Barça talk of a trial
The story with Frankie's salary continues. The club is trying by all means to reduce his income. First there was persuasion. Now the bosses have dug deeper.
They have decided that the contract with De Jong, signed in October 2020, contains violations of the law. The club then agreed with the Dutchman that they would reduce Frankie's salary in the first two seasons and then compensate for that in the next four years.
And so the two seasons have passed. Now the club wants to cancel the agreement - on the grounds that the previous management committed a financial crime in forming such a contract.
De Jong is being threatened with an investigation and a trial. Former club bosses insist that the contract with Frankie was approved by lawyers and La Liga itself. But the current management have a different opinion.
It's surprising that De Jong has still not bailed.
