The world of archery is set to witness a transformative change in leadership as Raul Calin prepares to take on the esteemed role of secretary general at World Archery, beginning 1 December 2025. This appointment marks a new chapter not only for Calin but also for the organization, eager to see how his expertise shapes archery’s future globally.

A Journey of Dedication and Excellence

Raul Calin’s journey is one of commitment and success. Having started his career as a table tennis athlete and coach in Spain, his ascent in the domain of sports administration is remarkable. Since 2017, Calin served as the secretary general for the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF). His tenure was marked by initiatives that emphasized education, global cooperation, and institutional integrity—values he now brings to World Archery.

Strategic Vision for World Archery

According to World Archery, Calin’s strategic vision and his history of fostering robust relationships within the sports community provided the clarity needed to elect him for this pivotal role. At the heart of his new mission will be working with Greg Easton, newly elected president of World Archery, to unify members and further expand the sport’s reach worldwide.

Past to Future: Bridging Experiences

In 2022, Calin transferred from Singapore to Lausanne, Switzerland, with the specific aim of enhancing governance structures and institutional relations—a goal that aligns perfectly with his new responsibilities at World Archery. His skillset and experience promise an exciting evolution of policies and initiatives that will undoubtedly cater to both athletes and member associations alike.

A Collaborative Leadership Approach

Joining Raul Calin will be Juan Carlos Holgado, appointed as executive director in October. Together, they form a dynamic leadership team poised to steer World Archery with innovation and unity. Their leadership will be immediately seen in action at the upcoming executive board meeting in Lausanne, scheduled for 14-15 December 2025.

Raul Calin’s Vision

Reflecting on his new role, Calin expressed, “I am deeply honored by the confidence President Easton and the executive bodies have placed in me. While my years at the ITTF were invaluable, I embark on this journey with humility and a commitment to elevate World Archery to new heights.”

Forging Ahead with Enthusiasm

The anticipation surrounding Calin’s appointment signals a collective optimism within the archery community. As outgoing ITTF responsibilities conclude at the end of November, the sporting world watches eagerly, ready to embrace this new era of archery leadership.

This leadership transition not only represents a significant milestone for World Archery but sets the stage for an inspiring future under Raul Calin’s guidance.
