OTTAWA, ON (July 11, 2025) – Excitement reverberates through the Ottawa Charge as defenders bolster their ranks once more! The Ottawa Charge proudly announced the return of a key player, Stephanie Markowski, with her signing a one-year Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) Standard Player Agreement. This move promises to strengthen the defensive backbone of the Charge for the 2025-26 season.
Rookie Season Highlights
Emerging from Edmonton, AB, Markowski’s initial year with the Charge was nothing short of dynamic. A fourth-round pick, she swiftly became a vital asset. Despite missing just two of the 30 games in her rookie season, Markowski impressed by tying for fourth in points among rookie defenders, making notable contributions with one goal and four assists in 28 games, and stepping up in the playoffs.
An Indomitable Presence
“Stephanie is a competitive and tough defender,” praised Charge General Manager Mike Hirshfeld. Her presence will shine even more this season, especially with the expansion teams reshaping the league. Markowski stands at 5’9’’ and was an NCAA champion with Ohio State University. Her achievement-laden resume is topped by collecting 27 points over 39 games during her fifth collegiate year and clinching a gold medal at the 2019 IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship.
