RICHMOND, Va. – The Richmond field hockey team kicked off their Atlantic 10 Conference season with an astounding 8-0 victory over Lock Haven. Held at the Crenshaw Field, the match saw an impressive display of teamwork as seven different players scored, marking a noteworthy performance reminiscent of their 2009 fixture against Ball State.

Dominating from the Start

The Spiders quickly took control of the game, boasting a staggering 28-3 shot advantage and dominating penalty corners 13-3. Goalkeeper Amanda Cimillo’s spectacular form led to her second shutout of the season, facing no shots on goal. Amy Stripling was the first to score in the 14th minute from a well-orchestrated corner play.

Alexa Derr swiftly followed, capitalizing on a rebound in the 20th minute, continuing to show her remarkable prowess with a second goal later in the game. Lainey Nichols further added to the scoreboard in the 22nd minute, clinching her third goal of the season with an assist from Reese Miller. Clara Larripa was a standout, scoring in the third quarter and assisting in multiple plays, demonstrating her all-round skills.
