Oman's Aspiring Coaches Reach New Heights with WABC Clinic
In a commendable move to uplift the talents within the sport of basketball, the FIBA Regional Office-Asia successfully concluded a pivotal WABC Level 1 coaching clinic in Muscat, Oman. This recently held clinic, conducted under the nurturing umbrella of the Oman Basketball Association from August 30 to September 4, has etched a promising pathway for aspiring coaches in the region.
Women in Sports: A Leap Towards Empowerment
Maram Al-Bahri, a women’s coach at Sultan Qaboos University, shared her heartfelt appreciation for the inclusive initiative. “It was a valuable opportunity to gain new knowledge and learn modern, internationally accredited coaching methods, which will help enhance the skills of national coaches,” she expressed, valuing the commitment shown by the Oman Basketball Association in propelling women forward in sports.

The clinic attracted 15 passionate individuals, including two women, all eager to assimilate the nuanced art of coaching. Muammar Al-Rasbi from Al-Seeb Club articulated his shift in perspective, stating, “This course was a valuable opportunity for me. I learned new coaching methods and more effective ways to deliver skills to players.”

Hamir Al-Husni, a player from Ahli-Sidab Club transitioning into coaching, recognized the effective blend of theory and practice in the clinic. He enthused, “The balance between theoretical and practical aspects was excellent, allowing us to first understand the concepts and then apply them on the court.”
