José Mourinho Eyes Manchester United Return, but the Club Isn't Interested
Portuguese football coach José Mourinho is reportedly keen on returning to English side Manchester United, despite the club’s apparent disinterest in reappointing him. Mourinho, who previously managed United, has expressed to close associates his deep desire to lead the team again, even stating he would "walk to Manchester" if necessary to secure the position.
Mourinho took over from Louis van Gaal as the head coach of Manchester United in May 2016. During his first season, he led the team to victories in the League Cup and the Europa League. In his second season, Mourinho helped the club finish second in the Premier League and reach the FA Cup final. However, his tenure at United ended in December 2018.
Since leaving Manchester United, Mourinho's most recent position was with Italian club Roma, which he managed from 2021 until his departure in January 2024. Despite his accomplishments, Manchester United seems reluctant to bring Mourinho back for another stint as the manager.
