It's official: Fury's fight with Usyk is postponed.
The fight between British Tyson Fury (33-0-1, 24 KOs) and Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs) for the title of absolute world heavyweight champion on March 4 will not take place as originally planned.
The parties have made good progress in negotiating a contract for the fight, but the show will take place in about a month.
Fury's promoter Frank Warren told TalkSport in a commentary. He emphasized that the organizers will announce the date of the fight in the near future. He added that Tyson's team just needs to reach an agreement with the Ukrainian side, as none of the boxers have contracts with TV companies.
"We are far from negotiations, but we need to work on a few things. I think we will soon reach the point where we can announce the fight. We hope that the fight will take place in late March or early April. "At least for this Usyk team, there are no promotion obligations, they're free agents, they don't have TV contracts, so it's very simple in that regard," Warren said.
