FORT WORTH, Texas – Under the Texas night sky, the Oklahoma State Cowboys faced their nemesis, the TCU Horned Frogs, at the famed Friedman Tennis Center. Not only was it a battle of rackets, but it was also a strategic chess match that unfolded on Thursday evening, as TCU delivered a clean 4-0 sweep against the Cowboys. As the 18-2 Horned Frogs cemented their top-tier status, Oklahoma State found themselves reflecting on missed opportunities as they dropped to 7-12 for the season.

Doubles Dilemma

The match kicked off with doubles action, but the Cowboys quickly found themselves in a potential pickle. TCU’s pairing of Filip Apltauer and Lui Maxted effortlessly sailed past Matei Onofrei and Finn Hopfe with a sleight-of-hand score of 6-1. The dynamic duo of Albert Pedrico and Duncan Chan went on to tip the scale further against Ian Bracks and Thomas Gadecki, 6-4. According to Oklahoma State University Athletics, tension was palpable in the atmosphere as No. 64 ranked Jack Pennington and Cooper Woestendick clinched the doubles sweep against Basile and Becroft.

Single Set Struggles

For singles, the tension reached a crescendo when Alessio Basile managed a momentous set victory but ultimately left his match against Cooper Woestendick unfinished with a promising 6-4, 2-3 scoreline. In a decisive showdown, TCU’s Duncan Chan robbed Thomas Gadecki of victory with a solid 6-0, 6-4 win. Each player showcased resilience, yet it was the Horned Frogs’ night for triumph.

Stellar Showdowns

The event-worthy highlight of the evening was the clash between TCU’s No. 12 Jack Pinnington and OSU’s No. 107 Isaac Becroft. Pinnington’s prowess saw him swiftly capturing a 6-2, 6-2 victory, reiterating TCU’s dominance. Albert Pedrico sealed the fate on court four against Ian Bracks, adding another crown to the Horned Frogs’ night.

A Promising Road Ahead

As OSU continues their journey, they next face Abilene Christian in Waco. Despite a tough night, the Cowboys remain hopeful, looking for redemption in subsequent matches. The season is far from over, and every match is an opportunity for resurgence.
