But the unexpected happened – Courtois suffered a severe injury. "It was the worst thing that could have happened to him," Lunin said with a heavy heart. "It was unfortunate because he has always been an inspiration and a support for me. At that moment, I supported him too, because he deserves it more than anyone, even though for me, it was an opportunity."

From that point on, Lunin was determined to demonstrate his capability. "I tried to do everything to show that with me, the team can win, that I can be number one, that I can be a calming presence," he stated. When Kepa got injured during a warm-up, Lunin was prepared to take his place. "That day, I was lucky to save a penalty, which boosted my confidence and gave me an adrenaline rush," he recounted.
